Crock Pot Cooking Recipes

There are a lot of days that it's very hard for us to get a meal on the table either because we lack the motivation or because we are busy. And we end up eating fast food. The full solution to this problem is a crock pot cooking recipe!

In the morning when we are ambitious and creative, we prepare the basis of our meals by adding meat, liquids, seasonings or other ingredients to the crock-pot cooking recipes.

Then at dinnertime, all we have to do is prepare side dishes such as heat and serve rolls and a green salad.

Sometimes we even prepare the side dishes early too so that way we have hardly anything to do at mealtime when we are lacking energy. If you have two crock pots, you can prepare two crock pot cooking recipes, using them both at the same time with the main dish in one and a side dish in the other.

The Crock Pot is a type of slow cooker for preparing crock pot cooking recipes ,that has the heating elements around the edge of the pot. It generally consists of three main parts: The Housing, the Crock and the Lid.

The Housing is generally made of plastic or alloy with an aluminium liner containing the heating elements. Inside this sits the Crock. This is a pot made of crockery in which you place the food. For ease of cleaning choose a Crock Pot with a removable crock.

And of course the lid goes on top. Make sure you have a see thru lid, so you can see how things are progressing without lifting the lid and losing heat.

So What Is The Difference Between A Slow Cooker And A Crock Pot?
Generally, these two terms are used to describe the same cooking appliance.

A Slow Cooker has the heating element on the bottom. This means you may need to stir occasionally to prevent sticking. It will usually have a thermostat allowing a range of cooking temperatures.

The Crock Pot has the heating element around the sides of the container. It will generally have a crockery insert, where you place the food. This insert is removable making cleaning so easy. The crock pot also usually only has two heat settings – low and high. Most Crock Pot Recipes will work as Slow Cooker Recipes, you just might need to give some of them a stir.

Advantages of Using a Crock Pot

Saves Money – the slow cooking of a crock pot cooking is ideal for tenderising meat, so the cheap cuts of meat work a treat.

Saves Time – put the food in the crock pot in the morning, go to work and it will be done when you get home.

Saves on Cleaning – one pot cooking reduces the number of pans used and thus less cleaning (this has to be a good thing.

Basic Tips:

Cook with the lid on. Most meat and vegetable combinations will require about 8 hours on low to cook and 4 on high.

The flavour of fresh herbs may be intensified in the Crock Pot. So reduce the amount. Towards the end of cooking taste, if it needs more just add it in. Dried herbs and spices are generally best added in the last hour.

Be careful when cooking with milk, cream and sour cream. Due to the slow cooking process, they tend to curdle. The solution is to just add them at the end of cooking.
